Cambridge-based HubSpot is eliminating nearly 660 jobs across the company, about 7% of its workforce, and reorganizing its product teams. Chief Executive Officer Yamini Rangan told employees about the cuts Oct. 6, the same day the software company disclosed the plan in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The figure is companywide. Rangan wrote that the process "will differ by country based on local requirements." HubSpot had 8,882 full-time employees at the end of 2025, 5,724 of them in the Americas, The Boston Globe reported, citing the company's annual report. A HubSpot spokesperson declined to tell the Globe how many of the affected employees are based in Massachusetts. As of Oct. 8, the Massachusetts WARN tracker, last updated Oct. 2, lists no HubSpot notice.
HubSpot's board approved the restructuring Oct. 1, according to the filing. Rangan wrote that over the past year the company shifted its strategy from building software that helps customers grow to delivering outcomes for them with AI. The filing says the plan is meant to create "a flatter, faster organization." Rangan wrote that product teams will be organized around customer goals instead of the company's product hubs, with fewer layers of management.
"This is not driven by AI-related efficiencies," Rangan wrote in the note, which HubSpot filed with the SEC. "This is not simply a cost-cutting exercise." To departing employees, she wrote, "I am deeply sorry."
HubSpot estimates charges of about $65 million to $75 million, primarily for severance, notice periods, employee transition and benefits payments, according to the filing. Rangan wrote that support will vary by region based on global requirements but will generally include severance of 20 weeks of base pay plus one week per year of service, up to 30 weeks. For U.S. employees, that includes five months of COBRA health coverage paid as a lump sum, she wrote. The company expects the role eliminations to be substantially complete by the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to local law and consultation requirements.
HubSpot cut about 7% of its workforce under a similar board-approved plan in January 2023, according to a Form 8-K filed then.
