Residents and businesses affected by the Sept. 13 flash floods can apply for federal disaster loans in Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties, Gov. Ned Lamont's office announced Oct. 6.

TheSBA disaster declarationcovers Fairfield County and the two adjoining Connecticut counties. Eligible homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofits can seek low-interest loans.

Homeowners can borrow up to $500,000 for their primary residence; homeowners and renters can seek up to $100,000 for personal property. Business physical-damage loans can reach $2 million.

The physical-damage application deadline is Dec. 1. Economic-injury loan applications are due July 2, 2027. These are loans that must be repaid.

A temporary outreach center is operating at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center, 999 Broad St. in Bridgeport. It will be closed Oct. 12 and is expected to close permanently at 4 p.m. Oct. 21.
