Frugal Fannie's Fashion and Shoe Warehouse will lay off 214 workers as it closes its Westwood store, according to a notice filed with Massachusetts. Layoffs are set to begin Nov. 23.
Retail Therapy LLC, which runs the store at 24 Wilson Way, filed the notice Sept. 24, the day a going-out-of-business sale began. The business opened in Westwood in 1983 and once had four Greater Boston stores before the warehouse became its only location. It cited medical hardships, retirements, and the coming end of its lease.
"After 43 years, the time has come to end Frugal Fannie's," the business said in a statement quoted by Patch.
The store had not announced its final day of business as of Sept. 29.
