A $43 million conversion of Hartford's former Fuller Brush factory into 155 apartments is no longer expected to finish by Nov. 30, Capital Region Development Authority staff said Friday, Oct. 2. Construction is now expected to wrap in the first quarter of 2027, the Hartford Business Journal reported.
The work is at 3580 Main St. Shelbourne Global Solutions began redeveloping part of the complex in late 2023. The agency has disbursed $8.5 million in loans and, in recent months, waived penalty interest and late fees on those loans, staff told the agency's Housing and Neighborhoods Committee. The city of Hartford provided a separate $1 million grant.
JPMorgan is now leading talks among lenders and the developer on how to finish the project, CRDA Deputy Director Anthony Lazzaro said. He said the lenders are meeting with the developer and borrowers about "a plan or a workout." Lazzaro said the causes of the latest delays were still unclear.
