KS Partners plans to raze a three-story commercial building and an adjacent 32-space surface parking lot at 222 Friend St. in Boston's West End and replace them with a mixed-use building of 212 residences and ground-floor retail, the Beacon Hill Times reported Oct. 2.
The proposal was presented Tuesday, Sept. 22, at a city Impact Advisory Group and public meeting. Architect Dartagnan Brown of EMBARC said the building would be 155 feet tall, plus 4 to 6 feet of mechanical equipment, with the homes on 13 stories including the ground floor. The plan includes no parking, and it does include bicycle storage. The firm had earlier proposed a life science building of 168 feet.
The project is under review by the city's Planning Department. Project manager Jack Gilman said it is on track for the Boston Planning & Development Agency board on Oct. 15, "assuming that board comments have been fully addressed" by then.
