Providence has scheduled an Oct. 20 community open house as it seeks a buyer for the Rochambeau fire station at 280 Rochambeau Avenue.
The open house is listed for 1 p.m. in the city's request for proposals. The property is in Hope Village on the East Side.
The solicitation excludes student housing, short-term rentals and proposals requiring a zoning change. The parcel has residential zoning and a historic overlay; bidders must explain their proposed use and its benefit to the neighborhood.
Proposals are due Nov. 16 at 2:15 p.m. The city would recommend the highest purchase offer among proposals meeting its qualification threshold. A sale still requires City Council approval.
