Part of Route 2 in Warwick will close overnight beginning Tuesday, Oct. 13, as crews work on the Interstate 295 bridge above Bald Hill Road.
TheRhode Island Department of Transportation noticeschedules closures between East Avenue and West Natick Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Oct. 13-15 and Oct. 18-20. Local traffic will be allowed.
The work is between Warwick Mall and Midland Commons. Northbound Route 2 traffic will use East Avenue, Greenwich Avenue and West Natick Road; southbound traffic will follow that detour in reverse.
On-ramps from Route 2 to both directions of I-295 will also close during the work. RIDOT's notice provides separate highway-access detours. The left lane of I-295 South after Exit 1B will be closed.
The work is part of a $76.6 million project replacing six bridges, with completion expected in summer 2028.
RIDOT cautions that schedules can change with weather or other circumstances. Drivers should check the notice before traveling.
