Newbury Street's holiday stroll is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 6, when Boston will close the shopping corridor to cars from Berkeley Street to Massachusetts Avenue.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the city's Oct. 30 announcement. Dec. 13 is the backup date for poor weather.

Boston is inviting businesses to use outdoor space for family activities, temporary seating areas and other programming. The announcement does not provide a full schedule of individual businesses' events.

Drivers will face parking restrictions on Newbury Street and some cross streets, with enforcement beginning at 6 a.m. Posted signs will identify the restrictions.

Fairfield, Gloucester and Hereford street intersections will also close to cars. Other intersections will remain open for vehicle circulation and public-safety access, so visitors should not assume the entire route is free of crossing traffic.

The holiday event follows the city's summer Open Newbury series.
