Boston University's men's hockey team begins its 105th season in Fairbanks on Oct. 2 and 3, playing Alaska for the first time in the programs' history.

Both games at the Carlson Center are scheduled for 11:07 p.m. Eastern, or 7:07 p.m. in Alaska. FloHockey will carry the series, with an audio broadcast featuring Bernie Corbett and Mark Linehan also available through BU Athletics.

The Terriers enter ranked 16th in the USCHO preseason poll and 15th in the USA Hockey poll. Hockey East coaches picked BU third in the conference. Alaska, an independent, finished last season 15-15-3.

BU has won six straight season openers. Its last trip to Alaska came during the 2007-08 season, when the Terriers played two games in Anchorage. The Fairbanks Nanooks will be the 79th opponent BU has faced in intercollegiate competition, according to the university's preview.

Senior Jack Harvey will captain the team. He is BU's leading returning scorer after a 21-point season that included 13 goals and eight assists. Harvey also scored four power-play goals and three shorthanded goals last season, according to the university's captain announcement.

Harvey has appeared in every BU game over the past two seasons. His career totals entering this fall are 63 points in 96 games, including 31 goals.

The assistant captain group includes seniors Aiden Celebrini and Mick Frechette, along with juniors Kamil Bednarik and Nick Roukounakis. Bednarik finished last season with five goals and 11 assists in 35 appearances. Celebrini also played 35 games and recorded a career-high seven assists from the blue line.
