Brown's men's water polo team won all four games at the Bruno Invite in Providence on Sept. 26 and 27, reaching 12-2 overall and extending its winning streak to five games.
The Bears finished the weekend with a 17-12 victory over Johns Hopkins and a 17-8 win against Wheaton on Sept. 27. They had beaten Connecticut College 16-8 and Concordia University Irvine 15-12 the previous day.
Across the four matches, Brown scored 65 goals and allowed 40. Dominik Balla and Mate Tymcyna each scored six during the event, according to the university's weekend recap.
Brown built its first win around a fast start against Connecticut College. The Bears led 6-1 after the first quarter and 8-2 at halftime. Willem Anton recorded his first collegiate hat trick, and Brown added six goals in the final quarter.
Concordia presented a closer finish. Brown led 6-2 after one quarter and 10-7 at halftime. Griffin Tunney scored twice after the break, and Dimitrios Kratimenos supplied Brown's final goal in the 15-12 result.
The Johns Hopkins game stayed close through the first half before Brown pulled away. Against Wheaton, the Bears opened a 6-0 first-quarter lead. Anton and Robert Norell each scored twice in that opening period. Oliver Chu completed his first collegiate hat trick before halftime.
Brown returns to Northeast Water Polo Conference play with road matches at LIU on Oct. 3 and Princeton on Oct. 4. The LIU match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Brooklyn, followed by a noon start at Princeton. Brown was 1-0 in conference play after the home tournament.
