Dartmouth forward Hayden Stavroff has been selected for the U.S. Collegiate Selects team competing in the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, from Dec. 26 through 31.
The roster announcement on Oct. 1 included six players. Stavroff is the first Dartmouth player chosen for the team, which brings together current NCAA Division I hockey players for the international tournament.
A junior from Columbus, Ohio, Stavroff led the nation with 29 goals in 2025-26. He added 19 assists to finish with 48 points in 35 games for Dartmouth during his sophomore season.
His awards included ECAC Hockey player of the year and the Walter Brown Award, with Stavroff becoming Dartmouth's first recipient of each. He was also Ivy League player of the year, an AHCA All-American and a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.
College Hockey Inc.'s roster announcement lists Stavroff as a preseason All-ECAC selection for 2026-27. All six players in the initial group are returning AHCA/CCM All-Americans, representing four Division I conferences.
The other forward named was Minnesota Duluth junior Max Plante, the 2026 Hobey Baker Award winner. The defensive selections were Union senior Tyler Dunbar, Minnesota Duluth junior Ty Hanson and Minnesota senior Evan Murr, who transferred from Minnesota State. Northeastern senior Lawton Zacher was selected in goal.
The Spengler Cup is hosted by HC Davos at Eisstadion Davos during the final week of December. The college team is scheduled to join HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, HC Sparta Praha and HIFK Helsinki in the six-team field.
The Collegiate Selects made their tournament debut in 2025. An invitation announced in April provides for the team's return in both 2026 and 2027.
Despite the U.S. name, eligibility is open to active NCAA Division I players of any nationality. The team can draw from all six men's Division I conferences. Stavroff's selection places a Dartmouth scorer on that roster after a season in which he finished at the top of the national goal-scoring standings.
