IDEX Health & Science has postponed the closing of its Bristol, Connecticut, plant until Dec. 31, extending employment for 15 remaining workers. The revised schedule appears in an amended layoff notice filed Sept. 9 with the Connecticut Department of Labor.
The plant at 110 Halcyon Drive had been scheduled to close around Oct. 30, with layoffs continuing through Nov. 13. The company said it needed the additional time to meet customer needs and finish the shutdown, Hartford Business Journal reported Sept. 11.
The original closing plan affected 73 employees, CT Insider reported in May. At that time, IDEX said affected workers would receive severance and career-transition assistance, including possible transfers to other company locations.
