Red Sox third baseman Caleb Durbin underwent joint reconstruction surgery on his left pinkie last week, the team announced Sunday.

The procedure took place in Wellesley, according to MLB's Oct. 11 report. MLB.com's report did not include a recovery timetable.

Durbin injured the finger June 24 on a headfirst slide into first base at Colorado. He returned to the lineup the next day and did not go on the injured list for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old finished his first season in Boston batting .248 with a .332 on-base percentage, a .378 slugging percentage, 13 home runs and 64 runs batted in. Boston acquired him from Milwaukee in February.
