Community Care Network's Rutland Mental Health Services plans to open a walk-in mental health urgent care program in early 2027 for adults facing mental health or substance use crises.
The provider's Oct. 20 announcement places the program at its 195 Stratton Road facility in Rutland City, about a half-mile from Rutland Regional Medical Center. It has not announced an opening day.
The first-year plan is to serve people 18 and older from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, without an appointment. The service is planned as a voluntary place for assessment, short-term stabilization and help connecting to ongoing treatment.
The team is expected to include crisis-trained clinicians, peer support specialists and a registered nurse providing consultation. Peer specialists bring experience of recovery to their work supporting others.
The provider says people whose medical, psychiatric or safety needs require more intensive care could be transferred to the hospital emergency department.
The program is supported through the Vermont Department of Mental Health using federal rural health funding. The announcement does not give a separate budget for this clinic or set out patient charges and insurance arrangements.
Children could be added in the second year, and hours could expand as the program develops, the provider says. Those are future plans; the announced initial service is for adults.
