Springfield Museums will hold Halloween activities Saturday, Oct. 24, with trick-or-treating in the galleries and crafts included in museum admission.

The program at 21 Edwards St. runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but individual activities have shorter hours. Face painting and trick-or-treat-bag decorating run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the face-painting line closes at 1:30. Bag supplies are limited.

Gallery trick-or-treating and campfire tales are listed for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Creature-themed headband making runs from noon to 4 p.m. Outdoor giant-bubble activities are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

The museums encourage family-friendly costumes but prohibit costume masks, realistic weapon props, sharp accessories, glitter and balloons. Costumes must not drag on the ground or obstruct other visitors.

Timed tickets for the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum will be distributed at the Welcome Center on a first-come basis that day. The Halloween listing does not guarantee a timed entry to that museum.

Visitors should check the museums' admission options before traveling. The event's inclusion with admission does not mean general museum entry is free.
