Vermont child care and afterschool providers have until Oct. 31 to apply for the 2027 Room For Me grant program, with awards intended to support services from Jan. 1 through July 31.

The program, administered by Vermont Afterschool with state Department for Children and Families funding, supports maintaining or expanding school-age child care capacity.

Eligible applicants include new or existing regulated center-based programs and family child care homes in good licensing standing. They must offer enrollment to families participating in the state's child care financial assistance program and provide care for children ages 5 to 12 for at least 42 weeks a year.

Applications can propose projects that maintain child care slots, sustain a program or improve program quality. The deadline for submitting questions is Oct. 30, and award notifications are scheduled for Dec. 1.

The program page includes the application and eligibility information. This is funding for providers, rather than a direct payment application for individual families.
