Vermont's men's soccer team followed a four-goal conference opener with another shutout, beating UMass 3-0 at Virtue Field on Sept. 29 to improve to 7-1-2.

The victory came three days after a 4-0 home win over Bryant in the Catamounts' America East opener. Vermont scored seven times across the two games, with a different player responsible for each goal.

Against UMass, Aleksei Carnier and Arthur Caldas each scored their first goal of the season. Pieter Bultman added his fourth. Luis Fischer and Jean-David Mougenot Koffi assisted on Carnier's goal, Carnier set up Caldas, and Stepan Fiker and Ezra Widman assisted on Bultman's finish.

The Catamounts outshot UMass 18-8, including a 7-5 advantage in attempts on target. Vermont also earned nine corner kicks to UMass' six. The university listed attendance at 1,772.

The Bryant match brought together teams ranked 23rd and 25th at the time. Gabriel Chavez gave Vermont the lead at 10:36, striking after Bryant goalkeeper Aimar Penalver headed the ball clear. Bryant had a first-half goal disallowed for a foul before the shot.

Vermont's remaining goals came after halftime. Mark Isong scored at 62:42 in his Catamounts debut, with assists from Carnier and Islam Houssni. Fiker scored at 79:31, and Philipp Schmidtke followed 27 seconds later to complete the scoring.

Niklas Herceg made four saves against Bryant for his sixth clean sheet of the season. The teams finished close in total attempts, with Vermont taking eight shots and Bryant seven, but Vermont converted four of its five shots on target.

The consecutive wins followed Vermont's 3-1 loss to Dartmouth on Sept. 19, its first defeat of the season. The Catamounts finished September with 21 goals scored and six allowed, while opening conference play 1-0. The Bryant game drew 2,347 spectators to Virtue Field.
