Wellfleet OysterFest returns Oct. 17-18 with seafood, live music and its oyster-shucking competition in the town's downtown festival area.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Organizer Wellfleet Oyster Alliance lists general admission at $35. Children 12 and younger enter free but still need a ticket. Food and drinks cost extra, as does the separately priced $25 learn-to-shuck class.

Free festival parking is at LeCount Hollow, White Crest and Newcomb Hollow beaches. Shuttles run from 9:45 a.m. to 6 p.m., covering the period before opening and after the festival closes.

Each Wellfleet resident must register individually online for a free Sunday ticket, using the resident coupon code on the organizer's website and entering a Wellfleet address. Valid photo identification with a Wellfleet address is required. The event runs rain or shine, tickets are nonrefundable and pets are not allowed, except service animals.
