Connecticut schools have until Friday, Oct. 16, to finish required fall literacy screening for students in kindergarten through third grade.
The state education department's guidance sets an Oct. 12-30 window for submitting results, with data files due Oct. 30.
The requirement covers local and regional school districts, regional educational service centers, approved private special education programs and charter schools serving those grades. Each must use an assessment from the state-approved menu.
Screening helps identify students at risk of reading difficulties who need intervention, including students at risk of dyslexia or other reading-related learning disabilities. The winter screening window runs Dec. 7 through Feb. 5, 2027.
