The Episcopal Church of New Hampshire has announced the Rev. Ed Cardoza as its bishop-elect after the diocese's Oct. 24 election.
The diocese's homepage names Cardoza as the winner. Its search committee had listed three candidates, including Cardoza, the Rev. Fran Gardner-Smith and the Rev. Canon Dr. Kristofer H. Lindh-Payne.
Cardoza serves at Grace Church in Manchester. In his candidate letter, he described living in Peterborough with his spouse, Albert, and commuting to the Manchester parish.
He wrote that before ordination he worked in nonprofit development, strategic planning and social entrepreneurship. He also described a proposed period of travel around the state to listen to congregations if elected.
The diocese comprises 46 congregations, from Colebrook to Nashua and Claremont to Portsmouth. Its election was part of the 224th diocesan convention, with the Oct. 24 gathering at St. Paul's Church in Concord.
Election and taking office are separate stages. The published transition calendar places a consent period after the convention and lists March 6, 2027, for the ordination of the 11th bishop.
The planned March 6, 2027, ordination depends on completing the consent process.
