Courts in Lincoln, Knox, Sagadahoc and Waldo counties are scheduled to move to Maine's electronic court system Dec. 7, covering all case types in the four-county judicial region.
The Maine Judicial Branch announced the rollout Oct. 9 and scheduled a public Zoom presentation for Wednesday, Oct. 14, at noon. The announcement includes the meeting link and says a recording will be posted afterward.
The change covers the counties' superior courts and district courts in Belfast, Rockland, West Bath and Wiscasset.
Electronic filing is mandatory for attorneys, government agencies other than law enforcement, and parties filing more than six non-emergency cases in a calendar year. People representing themselves are not required to file electronically and can continue submitting paper documents in person or by mail. Email filing remains available for protection-from-abuse and protection-from-harassment cases.
This is the second-to-last region scheduled for the transition. The judiciary says statewide implementation remains on track for February 2027.
