Atlantic fisheries officials are scheduled to consider menhaden catch limits for the 2027-2029 fishing years at a Nov. 10-11 meeting in Newport, Rhode Island, with Maine among the voting states.
The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's annual meeting agenda lists menhaden board sessions from 2:45 to 5:30 p.m. on both days at Hotel Viking, 1 Bellevue Ave., with remote access also offered.
The board packet schedules final action on specifications for 2027 through as late as 2029. Specifications establish the catch allowance for the fishing years covered, based on scientific projections.
The board will also consider final approval of Addendum II, a proposed change to the cap on the Chesapeake Bay reduction fishery. That is a separate agenda item from the coastwide catch-setting decision.
Possible action on commercial quota reallocation is scheduled Nov. 11. The agenda describes considering whether to begin a management action; it does not list final adoption of a new allocation. Allocation determines how a catch allowance is divided.
The packet lists Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut among the voting states. The agenda says times and item order may change. Current meeting and remote-access details are on the commission's annual meeting page.
