A development on city-owned land in Boston's Mission Hill neighborhood is moving into construction with 48 homes intended for first-time buyers.
All 48 homes at Mission Hill Pathway will carry income restrictions, according to the city's groundbreaking announcement. Buyers will need incomes between 80% and 100% of the area's median income, a regional benchmark used to set housing-program eligibility.
The project also calls for about 30,000 square feet of recreation and urban agriculture space and roughly 2,000 square feet of commercial space along Terrace Street.
ODJ Dev LLC, a partnership of DVM Housing Partners, Oxbow Urban and JGE Development, was selected through a city competition. The building is planned as an all-electric development of about 45,000 square feet.
Boston says its Parks and Recreation Department will own the public open space. The Trustees of Reservations will help care for that space and own and manage the community gardens.
The announcement describes the start of construction. It does not establish when buyers can apply, what individual homes will cost or when residents can move in.
