Viva Bach Peterborough will present three concerts Oct. 23 through 25, moving from a small ensemble to solo piano and then a performance of Bach's St. John Passion.

All three take place at the Peterborough Town House, 1 Grove St. Friday's opening program runs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., with Jeffrey Grossman on harpsichord, Caroline Nicolas on viola da gamba and Kevin Payne on archlute. The harpsichord is a keyboard instrument that plucks strings. The viola da gamba is played with a bow, and the archlute is a type of lute.

Pianist Simone Dinnerstein performs Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. Her program consists of Bach's Fifteen Inventions and Fifteen Sinfonias, collections of short keyboard pieces.

Sunday's St. John Passion runs from 4 to 6 p.m., with Colin Mann directing the festival chorus and ensemble. The vocal work tells the account of Christ's final hours through soloists, chorus and instrumental music.

The organizer lists individual concert tickets at $30 and a three-concert pass at $75. Its ticket page also offers student tickets at no charge for each concert. Check the appropriate ticket category and current availability before attending.
