The first 60 apartments at Platform at Naugatuck are complete, the developers announced Oct. 27 after a ribbon cutting for the downtown redevelopment.

The first phase includes one- and two-bedroom homes and about 3,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space at 20 Old Firehouse Road. Pennrose and The Cloud Company are developing the former vacant site with the borough.

Some apartments are for households earning 30%, 50% or 80% of area median income, a regional benchmark used to determine housing eligibility. Others are market-rate homes.

Pennrose's property page advertises leasing and provides application links. Applicants can call 475-323-6989 to ask about current availability and eligibility.

Two additional phases are planned, bringing the full proposal to 180 apartments and more than 7,000 square feet of commercial space.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is building a train station on the site to replace the Water Street station. The developer's announcement lists a summer 2027 opening target for the station.
