The Portsmouth Halloween Parade returns at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, with costumed participants gathering at Peirce Island near Prescott Park before marching through downtown.

The organizers' schedule says no sign-up is required to march. The parade is organized and funded by the community, rather than sponsored by the city.

Groups of 10 or more, and groups bringing sound, are asked to contact organizers in advance. The site also links the parade route, participation rules and information for parents.

The city is providing wheelchair-accessible van parking in the Prescott Park lot near Memorial Bridge, according to organizers. The parade site also links a city notice about parking and traffic restrictions.

Participants and spectators can check the parade site for current route information and any final changes.
