Providence's Historic District Commission meeting scheduled for Oct. 26 has been canceled, according to the city's current commission page.

The next listed regular meeting is Nov. 23 at 4:45 p.m. in the first-floor conference room at the Joseph A. Doorley Jr. Municipal Building, 444 Westminster St.

The commission reviews proposed exterior changes to properties in locally designated historic districts. Its decisions can affect alterations, additions and other work that changes a building's appearance or setting.

The city says documentation for the November agenda will be posted by noon Nov. 20. A canceled meeting does not itself establish that a particular application has been approved, denied or automatically moved to a specified agenda.

The commission page lists Zoom and telephone participation options for the November meeting, but warns that remote access is provided as a convenience and is not guaranteed. In-person attendance is the stated way to guarantee access.

Applicants and residents with questions about materials or the schedule can contact preservation planner Jason Martin at jmartin@providenceri.gov or 401-680-8517. Anyone relying on a calendar entry for Oct. 26 should check the city's cancellation notice before traveling.
