Providence is accepting applications through Nov. 16 for grants to improve nonprofit cultural venues, with a separate festival grant process opening Nov. 15.

The venue program has $700,000 across two fiscal years. Typical grants range from $25,000 to $100,000, with no matching contribution required, according to the city.

Applicants must own their venue or meet long-term lease requirements. Organizations that received at least $100,000 in combined city grants, subsidies and contracts across fiscal 2025 and 2026 are ineligible.

The city holds an online information session at noon today, Oct. 30, and says a recording will be available by Nov. 2. Organizations can RSVP to Rebecca Noon at rnoon@providenceri.gov.

The $50,000 festival program plans grants of $1,500 to $4,000 for eligible free public events in Providence held by June 30, 2027. It accepts applications on a rolling basis from Nov. 15, 2026, through May 15, 2027.

Festival applicants must have an annual Providence event with a budget above $8,000, meet the history and permit requirements, and have no religious affiliation. Awards may cover eligible expenses retroactively. Festival questions can go to Charlotte Abotsi at cabotsi@providenceri.gov.

Venue improvements must last at least five years; administrative offices unavailable to artists, students or audiences are ineligible. Full guidelines and applications for both programs are available through the city's Art, Culture and Tourism department.
