Rhode Island is accepting applications for a fund expected to award $305,000 over two years intended to help nonprofit housing developers build their organizational capacity in Bristol and Washington counties.

The Executive Office of Housing's request for proposals sets an end-of-day deadline Friday, Nov. 13, 2026. Applicants must be incorporated Rhode Island nonprofits with an existing presence in those counties or a plan to expand there.

The request for proposals allows applications of up to $80,000 for one year and anticipates four to six awards over two years. The office may award all the money in the first year if proposals are strong. The money supports an organization's ability to develop permanent affordable housing; it is not a rental-assistance program for individual tenants.

An Oct. 28 Executive Office of Housing clarification says partnerships involving shelters must still support permanent affordable housing. A shelter by itself does not satisfy that requirement.

The office expects to make award decisions by January 2027, with projects beginning in February 2027. Funded organizations must provide quarterly reports. Applications must be submitted through the state's Euna online platform.
