Rhode Island transportation officials have scheduled overnight closures of Route 2 in Warwick on the nights of Oct. 14 and 15 and Oct. 18, 19 and 20 for steel placement at the Bald Hill Road Bridge.
The advisory lists closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., with the first scheduled for Oct. 13. Each closure ends the following morning. Local traffic will be permitted between East Avenue and West Natick Road. The bridge carries I-295 over Route 2 between Warwick Mall and Midland Commons.
Signed detours use East Avenue, Greenwich Avenue and West Natick Road. During the work, Route 2's ramps to both directions of I-295 will close, and the left lane of I-295 South after Exit 1B will be closed.
Drivers seeking I-295 North from Route 2 are directed through East Avenue to I-95 North, then Route 37 West. The agency's advisory gives full directions for both highway and local-road detours.
The $76.6 million project covers six bridges, with completion planned for summer 2028. The transportation department says construction schedules may change with weather and other conditions.
