Pilgrim and St. Raphael Academy will meet for Rhode Island's Division II girls soccer championship after one-goal semifinal victories over the bracket's top two seeds on Nov. 2.
Fourth-seeded Pilgrim defeated No. 1 Scituate 4-3, and sixth-seeded St. Raphael defeated No. 2 North Smithfield 3-2, according to the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's official bracket. Both semifinals were listed at Smithfield High School's soccer field.
RIIL lists the final for Saturday, Nov. 7, at 2:30 p.m. at Rhode Island College.
Pilgrim received a preliminary-round bye, then beat fifth-seeded Toll Gate 1-0 in a quarterfinal listed for Oct. 29 at Bend Street Fields. Its semifinal win required a different score line: seven combined goals against Scituate, which had advanced with a 1-0 quarterfinal victory over Coventry.
St. Raphael's route included an extra round. The sixth seed opened with a 3-0 win over No. 11 Middletown in the preliminary round, then defeated No. 3 Ponaganset 4-3 in a quarterfinal listed for Oct. 28. The 3-2 semifinal win over North Smithfield put St. Raphael into the final.
RIIL lists the championships at Alumni Stadium at Rhode Island College.
