The University of Rhode Island will host a free online education symposium Nov. 18, inviting teachers, students, researchers and community members to explore how international perspectives can inform local classrooms.
The second annual Virtual Global Education Symposium runs Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to URI's Nov. 5 announcement.
The Feinstein College of Education is organizing the event with the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany. The program also highlights a 30-year partnership between the universities.
URI speakers include Sara Sweetman, Lilly Padia, Adam Moore and Nicole King, alongside participants from other institutions. The college says teachers attending for professional development can receive a certificate of attendance.
The symposium will use WorkAdventure, a virtual meeting platform where participants select an avatar and move through digital versions of university spaces. Organizers encourage advance registration so attendees have time to learn how to enter and navigate it.
The symposium webpage provides registration. Questions can go to planning committee chair Colleen Rossignol at crossignol@uri.edu or lead faculty committee member Nicole King at nicole.king@uri.edu.
