Vermont has mailed November general election ballots to active registered voters and recommends mailing completed ballots back by Oct. 20.
The Oct. 7 announcement describes Oct. 20 as a recommended mailing date, two weeks before the Nov. 3 election.
Under the secretary of state's return guidance, ballots must reach the town clerk before the office closes Monday, Nov. 2, or the polling place before 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Voters can return ballots to their clerk during office hours, use an official drop box before Election Day or bring their mailed ballot to the polls. Anyone arriving without it must sign an Affidavit of No Ballot Cast before receiving a replacement.
Voters who have not received a ballot by mid-October should contact their clerk. The state voter portal provides ballot tracking.
