The Vermont Housing & Conservation Board committed $13.8 million at its Oct. 1 meeting to housing, historic preservation and conservation projects, the board announced Oct. 7.

The awards include $5.42 million for Cathedral Square's planned 35-home senior housing development at Severance Park in Colchester. The board said it would serve households earning 50% to 80% of area median income. That measure is the midpoint of local family incomes and serves as a benchmark for housing eligibility.

Champlain Housing Trust was awarded $1.5 million to preserve and repair 52 rental homes at South Meadow in Burlington. Another $1.33 million supports Cornerstone Housing Partners' purchase and preservation of two Rutland parks for factory-built homes, with 44 spaces for those homes.

The package also includes $1.75 million to replace failing heating and ventilation equipment across five affordable housing communities. Conservation and historic preservation awards cover more than 725 acres and restoration work at Woodstock's King Farm.
