A competition to create or expand registered teacher apprenticeships in Vermont has $300,000 available, with an online information session Nov. 4 from 3 to 4 p.m. Eastern.
The money comes from an education grant awarded to the National Center for Grow Your Own, which administers the competition with the Vermont Agency of Education and Vermont Department of Labor. Applications are due Feb. 23, 2027. Each application may include multiple distinct proposals of up to $100,000 apiece.
Vermont-approved educator-preparation providers may lead proposals. Out-of-state providers may participate, and each proposal must include at least one Vermont school district or other local education agency that will employ apprentices and provide mentors.
The program supports pathways to an initial teaching license. Grant money and other resources must ensure selected apprentices pay nothing out of pocket for approved tuition, required fees and books.
This application is for organizations developing apprenticeship programs. Another information session is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2027.
