Adults with a sewing or small craft project can sign up for Knight Memorial Library's makerspace open studio on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

The session runs from 10 a.m. to noon at the library, 275 Elmwood Ave. in Providence, according to Community Libraries of Providence's event listing. Registration is through Garrett Locke at glocke@clpvd.org.

A makerspace is a shared work area with equipment people can use to create or repair things. Knight Memorial lists sewing machines, Cricut and Silhouette cutting machines, a laser cutter, a button maker and heat-press and sublimation equipment for transferring designs onto materials.

The listing says it is best for people new to a machine to book an introductory lesson first. The library hosts adult studio sessions on Tuesday mornings.

The library describes the session as time for adults to work on their own projects with the available tools. Anyone planning a particular item should ask which machines, materials and training are needed before arriving.
