Democrat Troy Jackson won Maine's U.S. Senate election and Democrat Hannah Pingree won the governor's race, according to race calls by The Associated Press.

AP posted its Senate call at 1:02 a.m. Nov. 4 and its governor call at 11:29 p.m. Nov. 3. A news organization's race call is its determination that a candidate has won; election officials still must complete and certify the count.

In the Bangor Daily News and Decision Desk HQ tabulation checked at 2:30 a.m. Nov. 4, Jackson had 333,912 first-choice votes, meaning ballots ranking him first, and Republican Susan Collins had 283,751. The tabulation listed 7,768 blank votes and write-ins separately.

The same source showed Pingree with 343,813 votes, Republican Bobby Charles with 227,768 and independent Rick Bennett with 49,560 in the governor's election.

The Bangor Daily News says its returns come directly from municipal clerks. Those tallies are partial and unofficial.
