New Hampshire has opened a $1 million grant program to help install publicly accessible electric-vehicle chargers at tourism attractions, business districts and other locations with demand from residents and visitors.
The Recharge the Adventure New Hampshire program reimburses up to 80% of eligible costs, capped at $10,000 per charging port. Awards within any one municipality are limited to $100,000, regardless of how many applicants or site hosts participate.
The money comes from the New Hampshire Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust. Public agencies, private entities and nonprofit organizations can apply.
The program covers Level 2 charging equipment, which supplies electricity while a vehicle is parked. The Department of Environmental Services runs the program with the Department of Business and Economic Affairs.
The first application window closes at midnight Nov. 15. Applications will then be reviewed monthly until funds are committed. Applicants must submit both the eligibility and project form and the budget form to ms-grants@des.nh.gov. The state recommends reading the full requirements before applying.
