Rhode Island voters cast 45,969 early in-person ballots during the first ten days of this year's general-election early-voting period, about 88% more than in the comparable 2022 period.
The count was current as of 4:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and was released by Secretary of State Gregg Amore's office Oct. 26. In 2022, the first ten days brought 24,393 early voters.
The comparison measures use of early in-person voting. It does not show final turnout.
The state announcement also reminds mail-ballot voters that their ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Voters still holding a mail ballot can use a secure election drop box, available around the clock until that deadline, or return it at a polling place on Election Day. The state advised voters who planned to mail their ballots to send them by Oct. 27. That recommended mailing date has passed.
The state voter-information website provides drop-box locations, early-voting sites and hours, sample ballots and Election Day polling places. Voters should check their own location and hours before heading out.
