Vermont communities planning parks, trails and outdoor recreation projects have new grant rounds to consider, with two programs requiring preliminary applications by Nov. 20.

The Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation's current grant listing says the 2027 Recreational Trails Program offers awards of up to $50,000 and requires a 20% match. Municipalities, nonprofits and other government entities may apply.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund has the same Nov. 20 preliminary deadline. It recommends requests between $25,000 and $1 million, requires a 50% match and is open to municipal entities, tribal governments and state agencies.

A separate Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative program has a Dec. 13 preliminary deadline. It recommends requests between $7,500 and $50,000, requires no match and accepts municipalities, nonprofits and other government entities.

The department links to each program's requirements and a recorded presentation comparing the options. Questions can go to ANR.FPRRecreationGrants@vermont.gov.
