A documentary made by Mount Hope High School students about climate change in Warren will be shown free at the University of Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay Campus on Nov. 17.
Rhode Island Sea Grant is hosting "Rising Waters: What Climate Change Means for One Small Rhode Island Town" from 6 to 8 p.m. in Corless Auditorium at Watkins Lab, 215 South Ferry Road in Narragansett. Refreshments begin at 6 p.m.; the film and discussion start at 6:30 p.m.
The Oct. 30 announcement says the film uses student storytelling and community voices to examine flooding concerns and local preparation in Warren.
Director Dennis Lynch and URI researchers Emi Uchida, Eliza Berry and Chris Russoniello are scheduled for the discussion. The researchers work on a project examining coastal flooding, groundwater, economic consequences and adaptation choices.
The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required through the link in the university's announcement.
