WaterFire's 14th annual Salute to Veterans is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, in downtown Providence, with onshore activities starting at 3:30 p.m.
The organizer's schedule lists a full lighting from sunset, given as 4:32 p.m., until 10 p.m.
WaterFire is inviting veterans and active-duty service members to take part in the lighting ceremony at Waterplace Park. Organizers say more than 100 veterans and active-duty service members will carry torches into the basin and form a ring during the lighting.
Stationary torchbearer positions are available for veterans who need mobility assistance. The event page links a sign-up form and asks participants to indicate that need when registering.
Questions about participating can go to Justin DeGraide at justin@waterfire.org. Visitors should use the dated Nov. 7 event page for final programming and any changes before coming downtown.
