Wells, Maine, voters approved a mobile-home park lot-rent ordinance and a data-center moratorium at a Nov. 3 special town meeting referendum, according to results certified by the town clerk and posted Nov. 4.

The rent measure passed 5,594 to 1,494. The question titled An Ordinance to Establish a Retroactive Moratorium on Data Centers passed 5,818 to 1,282. Blank ballots are recorded separately in the town clerk's certified results.

Voters also authorized up to 14 full-time rescue positions, 6,081 to 1,197. The ballot says the nonprofit Wells Emergency Medical Service told the town it will cease operations and that selectmen created a Wells Rescue Department to continue the service.

The ballot lists an estimated average cost of $99,148 per position, including benefits, beginning in fiscal 2028. The ballot says the positions are funded through fiscal 2027, with later funding requested through the annual budget process, starting at the 2027 annual town meeting.

A separate authorization for up to $5.5 million in borrowing to renovate, expand and equip the existing Log Cabin Lane fire station for fire and rescue use passed 5,306 to 1,844.
