Connecticut's late duck-hunting season opens Nov. 7 in the North Zone and Nov. 11 in the South Zone, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The department's season announcement places the North Zone north of Interstate 95 and the South Zone south of the highway. Migratory-bird hunting remains prohibited on Sundays on both public and private land. The state law allowing Sunday hunting on private land does not apply to migratory birds.

Hunters must have a Connecticut Migratory Bird Conservation Stamp, which includes the Harvest Information Program permit. The state stamp costs $17, or $9 for junior hunters ages 12 to 17. Waterfowl hunters age 16 and older also need the $25 federal Duck Stamp.

The state stamp expires Dec. 31. Anyone continuing into January needs a 2027 state stamp and hunting license, the department said.

Hunters should consult the department's current migratory-bird guide for species limits, shooting hours and other license requirements before heading out.
